Garrobos (pronounced “Gah-ROH-bohs”) is the Spanish word for the large iguanas that live along Costa Rica’s Pacific coast. A common sight on the rocks and beaches around Playa Flamingo, the garrobo represents the rugged coastal environment that inspired our name.
We are located in PlayaFlamingo just an hour from the International Airport in Liberia. This area is renowned for being one of the best destinations in the country for fishing and surfing activities.

About Garrobos boat
Garrobos Fishing & Surf is named after the fast-moving iguanas seen along the Costa Rican coast, just like our boat, built for speed on the water. Our 21’ Bayliner is fully equipped with quality rods, reels, lures, and fish-finding electronics to give you the best chance of success. The boat comfortably accommodates up to six guests and includes a cuddy cabin that can sleep two people, along with a toilet for convenience. Your experienced local captain will guide you to the best fishing conditions while sharing knowledge of the local waters and seasonal fish patterns.

Seasons in Costa Rica
Costa Rica’s climate is generally divided into two main periods throughout the year.
Dry Season (December – May)
During the dry season, rainfall is minimal and the weather is typically sunny and warm.
Green Season / Rainy Season (June – November)
From June through November, Costa Rica experiences its rainy or “green” season. Mornings are often sunny with rain arriving later in the afternoon.
Fishing in Guanacaste Throughout the Year
Fishing in Guanacaste, Costa Rica varies by season and by month. Different species become more active at different times of the year depending on ocean conditions, water temperature, and migration patterns.
